The Generous People in Ciptagelar Village, Indonesia.

“A place is only as good as the people you know in it.” – Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four)

That quote got me thinking that when you know and try to connect with people in some places, when you need to leave, you’ll be missing home. Last year I’ve got an amazing experience to visit Ciptagelar Village. It is located in the south hillside of Halimun Mountain in Sukabumi, West Java, Indonesia.

I went there with friends from Bandung Institute of Tourism. The local people of this village were so welcoming to our arrival, they welcomed us in a big traditional house called Imah Gede. Ciptagelar village is  a village that sticks to the traditional environment completely from the kind of their house to non-trading activities between the villagers especially for the rice. Why there is non-trading activities in Ciptagelar? Because every single families in Ciptagelar are having a place called Lieut to put the rice from the harvest season and whenever villagers need some rice, they will give it for free as the praise to God for giving them  fertile soils so they can harvest the rice almost every year.It’s been told that this local people in Ciptagelar get their daily need of foods like vegetables and rice from their own land and their own work. The men in this village are the one who will work in the rice-field and all the farming, and as for the women, they will stay at Imah Gede to cook the foods together for men and for all the tourist that come to this village.

For years, the people in Ciptagelar have been welcoming guest to their village and let them with open hand to know and involve in the daily activity of the local. With a lot of people come to this village, it can’t be denied that tourism takes one of some aspects of economic growth in this village for local people. When I was there, I saw some people sat in their front yard to make a traditional merchandise made from bamboo shavings, and another merchandise too like Epok and Kaneron.

From the arrival of tourist, the villagers are now more in love with their culture and tradition as the tourism attraction, because the tourism attraction is not only something we can do and see, but also something we can learn and remember. And from now on, tourist not only seek for the fun, but also seek the great experience from a place they visit.

Before there were no tourist that come to the village, they could fulfill their need well but as soon as Ciptagelar become more well-known, the villagers can increase their income from selling the traditional merchandise and they know how to maintain the traditional way of living with an open mind of the modernization.

I learn a lot from this community, because they indirectly thought me to be kind, generous, humble and know to treat our environment well.

We made it, idiot. One year. 365 ups and downs wonderful days.

Like no matter how many times I promise to be the better version of me for you, I still can't do that.

And no matter how many times you've made your promises to change for me, the changing won't ever be enough for me. 

Always breaking our own rules.

But beside all of that, we made it through after all this time. And guess what?! 

We survived.

Somebody said that life and relationship is not about how we make it through the storm, but it's about how we learn to dance in the rain.

So whatever coming for us ahead, we will make it through.

I'm sorry for my lack of trust on you. And THANK YOU SO MUCH for loving me with your annoying way, cause maybe I love you more with my more annoying way.

I'm not gonna promise that I can be better, but one thing for sure, I will try to be the best person I could be, day by day.

             I don't know either it's our own mistake or it's just them who can't stand how happy we are being together and be in each other arms.

            It takes me 20 years to know what's right for me, to know who will accept me along with my good, bad, or even my worst side.

          And then one day you came. You came out of nowhere, cause I didn't see you coming.  You complete something that have been  a big hole on my chest. You guide me to the fact knowing that I'm worthy enough to love someone and have them loving me back more.

           But people throw rocks at things that shine, don't they? 

          And the world is rotating. Sometimes we are in the air flying high. And there will be times we fall hard on the deep dark ground along with its nasty smell. 

          Always have those people who will push you back, make you feel bad about the whole wide world or yourself, and will try to tear you down. Then comes the time I really need to stand alone and hold on something that feels right even it means I have to fight the whole army.

           We win in our lost battle. But whenever we put our victory as high as the hawk, always have those magic wands make it breaks and burns. 

           But everyone feels the same, right? Just different level of hell and devils. And I don't mind cause all what I really need is staying true to myself and not giving even a little piece of shit on that.

          

          All the matters now is I have these good company who always be right beside me through the ups and downs. But most important is, they don't judge.

A Special Night With Demi Lovato

You can tell that Demi Lovato has been and always will be my favorite singer ever. And I've seen this quote "Dreams do come true" all my life, and YES, DREAMS DO COME TRUE you all. On March 24 I. MET. DEMI. LOVATO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never know how it feels like to meet someone you look up to so freaking much, and meet someone who inspire you in so many ways. I honestly hard to remember how it feels like that day, because the amount of happiness and craziness was collide. Like, I can't imagine, all this time I just see her on my tv screen, or internet, twitter, or something like that, but that day, she was just 5 feets away from me and I could see her face clearly. She is so freaking beautiful and stunning. Her skin was flawless. And when you thought you just can hear her voice through your headset, I just can't describe how great her LIVE voice was. She killed all the high notes in all her amazing songs.  

As all people that know I adore Demi Lovato maybe don't know about this. I love Demi not because her beautiful face and amazing voice and songs, maybe at first YES, but when she shared her story about how she stands up for bullying and how she dealt with eating disorders because of cruel society but can stand up higher and get help and get better and better that moment when the amount of my respect for her increase. She also decided to share her story instead of lying about it to the media so she could help another girl who deal with the same issue to get help and get better. She inspires me to always feel beautiful and to not letting people bring me down. 

I can't believe that I could have this opportunity to hear her sang Skyscraper LIVE because that song gave me big impact  of my perpective on something. 

And also Give Your Heart a Break, Heart Attack, and all of her songs too, and all I can tell is SHE GOT THAT VOICE and ATTITUDE!

Thank you Demi, for everything you though me and for this amazing experience to see you live in concert. Maybe I didnt get a lesson about how to bring myself up, how to always feel beautiful, and how to accept my imperfection, but through you and your story, I could. 

And btw, can I have that boots?

For the best person I've ever admired after my mom, DEMI LOVATO

My friend who can read mind once told me that I was not comfortable with my ownself, was not satisfied with my own skin. I have no confident. If there was a person who judge me, I could drown in their words about me. Because of that, I was sometimes losing my self.

Honestly, all the things on my mind that my friend read is just correct. There are some times that I am not comfortable with my self. I've written lot of articles in here on my blog about how happy I am being my self, or how grateful I am for everything in my body, in my life. I DO feel thankful for that, but, honestly, deep down in my heart there's a little space that say, I'm not.

Back then when I was in elementry school, there was name-calling for me, bad one. And when I was in middle school, there was a guy that decided to stay away from me, didn't call me anymore because I was pimpled. I dont know maybe that time was the beginning of all this 'things'. Untill now I'm in high school, I live my life with ups and downs, like everybody else, but I feel something in 'here' is just so wrong.

Then your song "Skyscraper" came out. I read the lyric. And I was like, this song is a typical song that I can releate to. I'm in love with this powerfull ballad.

Then I started to watch your interview about

how you overcome with your life, about your fighting with your "self acceptance" problem, I was inspired a lot.

I am not doing self harm, because I have no courage of doing that which is something I'm very very grateful for. But Demi, you inspired me to stay strong, to always feel beautiful and to always remember that every single one of us is beautiful.

It is not that easy to do what I've learned from you, but as you already said, that it is daily battle. When there is one day I can feel beautiful before I go to school, or feeling happy and throw my pain outside my window, or going through my day without feeling bad for being myself...........than I can tell myself that I success, that I'm the winner.

Demi, you have courage that not all the people in the world have. You are strong. And I want you to know that you are inspiring tons of girls to love our self and be postive.

It's hard we all know, but I'm on my way to build my courage too. I'm strong. And I am staying strong with you, and with all the people in the world who feel the same.

Thank you so much for your honesty and for being a great role model for young girls, including me. I'm not gonna love my self, my body every single time, but I have to, so I try and be grateful for it. And thank you for making your self become someone who will say "stop, it is not good" or "it will be ok.."

Kenapa California, Amerika Serikat?!

"Ya Allah, semoga besok pagi, saya buka mata dalam keadaan bukan di sini. Semoga, saya transfer dengan orang yang tinggal di California, Amerika Serikat sana. Semoga saya sekolah disana, semoga hidup saya di sini tuh cuma mimpi. Bangunkan saya dalam keadaan seperti itu ya Allah. Amin."

Tau ga, kalo kata-kata di atas tadi pernah menjadi ucapan do'a saya sebelum tidur. Kayanya ini akibat dari terlalu banyak jalan-jalan di dunia twitter deh, atau karena terlalu mengidolakan artis luar negeri mungkin, atau karena memang saya penggemar film barat, dan otomatis saya membayangkan sekolah seperti di film yang saya tonton. And that school in film is exactly what I wanted ;)

Kenapa California, Amerika Serikat? Soalnya disana gudangnya artis dunia. Mau nonton konsernya Demi Lovato? Gampang. Konsernya Avril Lavigne? Gampang. Kalo ada duit sih itu juga hehe. Tapi serius deh, saya pengen banget bisa tinggal disana. Dan, kalo saya bisa tinggal disana, Hollywood itu deket. Which means, I could meet a couple actors in movie I watch this whole time, Jhonny Depp? Check. Kristen Stewart? Check. Emma Stone? Tottaly check.

saya sering kepikiran pengen hidup di belahan dunia selain Indonesia. I mean, saya pernah bilang sama diri sendiri, "I wish, hidup saya ga disini. I wish ketika saya bangun tidur, saya kebangun dengan keadaan kamar yang berbeda, cuaca yang berbeda, sekolah yang berbeda, AND once again, I wish I finally realize that I live in California.."

Pernah ada saatnya keberuntungan itu jauh dari tangan saya, otomotasi ngebuat saya susah untuk bersyukur. Itu lah latar belakang dibalik kenapa saya punya keinginan tinggal dan hidup berbeda.

Tapi, tapi, tapi.....

Orang tua saya, terutama mama, selalu ngajarin saya untuk bersyukur. Emang

ga secara langsung di ucapkan, "Kamu harus beryukur Nadia!" Ga kaya gitu, tapi mama saya tuh selalu tegar dalam keadaan apa pun, selalu senang, dan itu yang jadi bahan ajar saya untuk belajar bersyukur.

Keinginan gila saya untuk "Hidup berbeda" dari sekarang itu masih ada, tapi saya tetep cinta Indonesia kok dan sadar bahwa hidup saya, including my family and friend itu tuh udah keren banget, tapi kalo tetep mimpi untuk tinggal di California, AS ga ada salahnya juga kan? Hehehe :)

My Favorite Songs, What's behind it?

Musik itu ibarat udara. Untuk beberapa orang di belahan dunia, musik itu yang bikin mereka 'feeling alive'.

Ini lagu udah kaya "my best cure" pokoknya. Nada lagunya keren, suara yang bawain-nya TOTAL, liriknya juga awesome.

Lagu yang bikin saya semangat. Buat saya pribadi, ini lagunya bikin saya feeling free to do what I love (dengan penuh tanggung jawab & batasan normal tentunya).

3. Beautiful by Bethany Dillon

There are some times that I feel uncomfortable being my own self, and this song help me to throw that feeling outta me. Lagunya simpel, tapi makna keren. Oh dan bikin kita berpikir positif!

4. All Night Long by Demi Lovato feat Missy Elliot and Timbaland

Lagu yang pasti saya puter kalo lagi ngerjain sesuatu, kaya misalnya kalo lagi ngepel rumah setiap hari minggu, atau kalo lagi ngerjain tugas-tugas sekolah. Sebenernya ga cuma lagu ini yang saya suka dari album barunya Demi, masih ada 'Give Your Heart A Break', 'Who's That Boy', 'You're My Only Shorty', 'Unbroken', dan I almost like all the songs of her new album.

My favorite line : "I like you, put your number, put your number on my phone, phone, phone, phone, phone, phone, phone, yeah..."

5. Skyscraper by Demi Lovato

God, I LOVE this song. This song is like my anthem of life. Kadang kan kita suka ngerasa ada orang yang ga suka sama kita, atau ada orang yang ingin bikin kita down, atau kita lagi ngerasa hopeless and butuh penyemangat, ini lagu yang pas!

My favorite line : "You can take everything I have, you can break everything I am, like I made of glass, like I made of paper. Go on and try to bring me down, I will be rising from the ground like a skyscraper..."

6. Your Song by Elthon John (Casey Abrams Version)

Lagunya simple, tapi ngena. Such a beautiful love song. Aww :) whenever I hear this song, I feel happy and touched ;)

My favorite line : "I hope you don't mind that I put down in words. How wonderful life is while you're in the world..."

That is how I live my life with songs, it is hard to be positive all the time, to be in control all the time, to be kind and sociable all the time with people, and these songs, sometimes could be the best medicine if I need one.

And one thing you and I have to know that we dont live our life for another people, we live for us, for ourselves. Do what you wanna do, people making mistake, that's natural. Let it flow aja tinggal gimana caranya kita bertanggung jawab sama diri sendiri. :D Enjoy!

I'm so proud of what she has become, of what she is today. I'm so happy to see that she is more healthier and much more happier now.
With single called 'Skyscraper' she re-build her career, and it works so great.
'Skyscraper' is really an amazing song, and she already did 'skyscraper' performance, and done it beautifully. She's such a gorgeous girl.

And I'm so glad she is still standing strong. I'm so glad that Demi told her story to all of us so she can help every single person to find hope and to never give up. I'm so glad she's back to music industry and let people know what she's capable of, she has talent, is a supernormal singer. I'm so glad all people around the world (lovatics) still love Demi the way they used to before everything that happened. Oh and also for all haters out there, you can try to bring her down, but Demi will be rising from the ground like a skyscraper. Haters gonna hate, anyway.

Demi Lovato is one of the best examples of person with a successful comeback, September 20th is the day when her brand new album "UNBROKEN" release, and she also has 2 concerts in LA (September 23) and NYC (September 17) which is called "An Evening With Demi Lovato".

REVIEW: Demi Lovato “Skyscraper”

With an incredible voice and two great albums under her belt, Demi Lovato reportedly headed into studio right after exiting a treatment centre, a smart move on her end. She had months of experiences to write and sing about. How well would they translate to song, though? Well, based on “Skyscraper,” the first offering from her upcoming third album, they translated fantastically. Co-written by Estonian “bubblegoth” singer, Kerli, and producer, Toby Gad (Selena Gomez “A Year Without Rain”, Fergie “Big Girls Don’t Cry”), “Skyscraper” seems like it was tailor made for Demi. With heartbreaking, yet optimistic lyrics placed over minimal yet emotionally effective production, the song seemed like the perfect opportunity for Lovato to emote, and emote, she certainly does.

"Skies are crying, I am watching,” she whispers in the first verse. “Catching teardrops in my hands.” Strangely befitting, she sounds vulnerable, almost broken, over a bare, piano-only backdrop. As the second verse resounds (“As the smoke clears, I awaken,”) she’s already regained most of her confidence and composure as the beat picks up, yet there’s still a hint of fragility in her voice, which diminishes as the song goes on. Until we reach the finale, that is; the final chorus.

The chorus in “Skyscraper” is arguably the best thing about the song. The creme de la creme, if you will. Heartbreaking yet optimistic, catchy yet powerful in substance, it stays with you for all the right reasons.

The final rendition, however, is all the more mesmerizing. Openly weeping by the end of the song, it gives Lovato the edge to transform from Disney princess into fully-fledged, true musician. “Skyscraper” is a triumph for Demi Lovato in every sense; a triumphant return to the music industry, a triumphant return to prominence, and, above all, a triumphant emergence from the ashes.

Malam kemarin saya lagi-lagi nonton film Spiderman 3. Peter Parker bilang, "We always DO have a choice in life."
Dan apa yang diucapkan-nya benar. Ketika kita terpaksa memilih sesuatu dengan alasan, "Aku ga punya pilihan lagi." coba pikirkan, pada saat kita memilih 'sesuatu' itu, apakah itu bukan pilihan yang kita ambil?
Sebenarnya jika memang benar-benar tidak ada pilihan, bukankah YES atau NO itu selalu ada? Bukankah MAJU atau MUNDUR itu selalu tersedia kapan pun kita ingin mengambil salah satunya?

Pernah saat itu saya mengambil pilihan yang saya kira "Tidak ada lagi pilihan selain itu." dan saya berakhir dengan menyesali pilihan yang saya ambil, dan saya mulai menyalahkan diri saya sendiri karena telah memilih keputusan itu, lagi-lagi dengan alasan "Tidak ada lagi pilihan . . "
Tapi jika ditelaah lagi, kita benar-benar selalu punya pilihan. Saat itu saya punya 2 pilihan, mengambil keputusan itu, atau tidak sama sekali.

Biasanya orang-orang beralasan, "Tidak ada lagi pilihan . . ." karena mereka terlalu takut untuk berhenti begitu saja, atau takut untuk mengambil keputusan lain yang dapat berdampak buruk. Padahal, bagaimana pun, seberapa pun, seburuk apa pun pilihan yang kita ambil, ya itulah keputusan kita, itulah pilihan kita, dari situ kita bisa belajar untuk bertanggung jawab pada diri sendiri.

Sekali pun kita akhirnya menyesal karena telah mengambil pilihan itu, setidaknya kita bisa STAND UP FOR OURSELVES. Jika dampaknya baik, itu suatu kebahagiaan tersendiri, dan jika berdampak buruk, It's time for move on and keep trying our best, guys.
Maka nya ada phrase, "Hidup itu pilihan, take it, or leave . . ."

One of the best film that inspiried me

I am writing this post as a person who ever feel that kind of situation you called "L.O.V.E".
Orang pernah berkata, "Pria tampan hanya untuk wanita cantik."
Entah dari sudut pandang apa mereka berkata seperti itu, tapi menurut saya, "Pria baik hanya untuk wanita yang baik."
BAIK, makannya luas. Dan sesempurna apapun penampilan yang dapat tertangkap retina kita, bukan suatu penentu.

Film Beastly mengangkat cerita modern dari Beauty and The Beast yang tayang pada tahun 1991 dalam bentuk animasi.
Film ini entah bagaimana menginspirasi saya, bagaimana cara pandang kita pada seseorang yang kita sayangi, bagaimana kita peduli terhadap orang-orang disekitar kita, dan bagaimana kita belajar untuk menghargai perasaan orang lain.



Pangeran yang tampan, dan bisa miliki segalanya hanya dengan hentikan jari, namun tidak BAIK pun bisa mengalami 'neraka' dalam hidupnya.
Percaya atau tidak, pada akhirnya, penampilan itu bukan suatu alasan untuk tidak mencintai orang lain . . .

I adore Demi Lovato and some of my friends might know about it. And right now, She's working with Seventeen Magazine and Jed Foundation with the campaign "Love Is Louder Than The Pressure To Be Perfect".
I write this blog based on my knowledge that I got from reading Demi Lovato's article that contain with positive messages for all of us, especially for the teenage girls all over the world.

Sometime, we feel ashamed with the problem we have, it's just feel better for us to be silent and keep it for ourselves. But at the same time, we're probably going to end up feeling too much worry, moody, and depression when it's become overwhelmed.

Face it guys, the common problems that we as teenager have are school task, the problem how we express ourselves in daily life, the problem of our acceptance of ourselves, problems with friends, or relationship problems with the Heartbreaker--the guys.

One of those is trying to control my brain and my act in my daily life recently, and I began to think that I can't stand on my feet again, I'm playing with scrabble inside my head, I've always end up with nothing to say, even I always know what I'm gonna say. I was like "I just wanna dig a deep hole and hide in there."

Every morning at school I was trying to build my mood up so my friends couldn't see what's going through my head. And I was trying to find something that could liven up my mood, because it was like a puzzle and I didn't even know what to do.

But I'm a lucky girl, I'm not one of those people who hurt their own body when I face my problem. And I'm the most lucky girl, because with the article that Demi Lovato has done, I can solve my problem with a good way.
I begin to accept my own problem, cause at first I was like, "No, I'm ok. Everything is good." But pretending like that just make it worst.

And because I had to thinking like, "If I'm taller, smarter, and have a great ability to speak in front of people, maybe her position is me, maybe the one that he loves is me." right now I'm learning and start to accept myself, more respect of myself, and talk myself up. Because noone better than yourself . . .
And for me, all that problem solving is started from our own selves.


So, it is IMPORTANT to remember, if you feel worthless and hopeless, just REMEMBER that everybody is worthy to be loved. And Demi said, "No matter how hard what you've been through, things will get better. . ."
